RED ROCK CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 19, 2007
Meeting was called to order at 7:15pm
Vice President: The thank you letters for donors for the banquet have been sent.
Treasurer: Beginning balance: $32,897.02. Ending balance: $3989.35. 50/50: $272.00
Habitat: The March 17-18 tree planting project was postponed due to the weather, and has been rescheduled for April 14-15. The Sorber Mountain road clean-up has been rescheduled for April 29. Dale asked chapter members to bring their chain saws for the March 31 project at the Lackawanna Forest near Moon Lake.
President: The scholarship winner was selected, John Borzel from the Wyoming Area School District. Dale brought a .22 Cricket rifle which will be used at the JAKES event, along with .410’s and 20 gauge. Chastity accepted our National award for the JAKES event at Nashville, and the award was present for members to view. Dale gave a reminder of the need for a contribution amount toward expenses for any future National events. We will need an idea of the actual cost before setting the amount. Chastity was reimbursed for the cost of her tickets for the National event. She mentioned finding out about a $10 student NWTF membership at the National event. The June 9-10 planting project will be a joint effort with the Muncy Creek Chapter on State Gamelands 13. Muncy Creek will do the site preparation, and our chapter will do the lime and fertilizer. Regarding the banquet for next year on February 9, 2008, Genetti’s has given us a quote of $22.50 per person. Dale and other chapter members attended a function at the Waterfront, and they felt the facility would not be adequate in space for our banquet. The Knights of Columbus is not being considered due to multiple problems encountered the last 2 years. Chapter members voted Genetti’s to be the location for next year’s banquet. The ticket prices will go up slightly, to $55 and $80.
JAKES: Christine summarized the March 13, 2007 JAKES meeting. 61 registrations have been received so far. Group leaders and instructors acquired, and materials needed were summarized. We still need some instructors and group leaders. Donation of food items was discussed. Dave Butler discussed inventory of what we have, such as shells, safety glasses, etc. Damien discussed rental cost of a grill and 30’ X 60” tent from Big Top. He will look into renting tables and chairs. He will also look into obtaining a megaphone. The chapter voted to obtain new JAKES banners from National. There will be an information area for display of photos, T-Shirt orders, etc. We will also have a 50/50 raffle. The next JAKES meeting is April 10.
