NWTF RED ROCK CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES
JULY 28, 2008
Meeting was called to order at 7:15pm
Vice President: Pat Mitchell won the July raffle drawing with the winning number of 669. Berny reminded members of the need for ticket returns from the July raffle. Our next fund raising raffle drawing will be August 16, 2008, with the winning number determined by the evening drawing of the Pennsylvania Lottery daily number. Berny asked chapter members for photos from the Sarah Dymond project so an article about the project can be submitted to Pennsylvania Turkey Talk. Dale and Berny are attending the PA chapter leadership workshop at State College August 2-3. Dale noted that anyone who is interested may attend the workshop.
Treasurer: Beginning balance: $5622.81. Ending balance: $4575.71. 50/50: $569.00.
Habitat: Dale, George, and Pat checked on some areas of the recent planting projects, and they are doing well. The Sarah Dymond project is nearly completed . The ground was prepped for the food plot, the bridge and railings were redone, some apple trees were released, trails were cleared, and some areas of canopy were cleared. A diversion is still needed for an area that tends to flood with heavy rain. There is also a large diseased tree that needs to be removed, and a large apple tree that needs to be pruned. Clover and trefoil will be planted. Interested chapter members can meet at the school August 5, 2008 at 6pm to lime, fertilize, and seed the food plot. January 17, 2009 has been set as the date for a border cutting project at Sugar Run.
President: Dale will submit the receipts to Muncy Creek Chapter for reimbursement from the Sugar Run/Cider Run/Newell Road projects. Nominations were accepted for new officers due to take office in September. Those nominated were unopposed, and the election was completed. The officers will be:

It was noted that someone will need to substitute as treasurer for Tony in the interim during banquet planning. The banquet planning process will begin with the August meeting. Tony will ask Ray Smith to attend the October meeting. Tony suggested a Christmas party for members at the Farmers Inn. Damien suggested putting references to house bills related to hunting and conservation on our web site, as well as contact info for our representatives. Pat Mitchell suggested a name for the Dave Zabofski Memorial Scholarship, “Dave Zabofski Annual Memorial Scholarship”, sponsored by friends of Dave Zabofski and the Red Rock Chapter of the NWTF. The scholarship will be funded as follows: $150 from the Red Rock Chapter, $250 from the state, and $100 from the Dave Zabofski fund, for a total of $500. Damien also suggested dedicating the bridge at the Sarah Dymond School to Dave. Christine gave reminder of need to begin planning for the turkey giveaway and putting a limit on number of turkeys, likely 100.
