RED ROCK CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 18. 2006
Meeting was called to order at 7:10pm
Vice President: The letters for the banquet (approximately 285) have been sent. Letters were not sent to chapter members, but are available upon request. Our website has been dormant since 2004. There has been no response to inquiries made to the suppliers of the domain name. We have someone who may volunteer to help out with the web site.
Treasurer: Beginning balance: $6167.36. Ending balance: $4884.16. 50/50: $375.00
Habitat: Gene Weiner is to send a list of planned projects to Dale. A timber cut is planned for Sorber Mountain January 20-21. 2007. Bob Erikson contacted Dale regarding 100 crab apple trees, that are already bearing fruit, that are available from a nursery for free by donation. Logistics for acquiring them were discussed, including delivery, necessary equipment, and storage.
JAKES: Chastity discussed details of the first JAKES committee meeting. The location of the event will be Moon Lake Park, April 22, 2007. Cindy will be responsible for publicity, Lisa and Berny will be responsible for managing donations, Chastity will be responsible for the instructors, and Matt is managing the group leaders. A representative from the New Age Examiner will be at the January meeting.
Banquet: Our banquet will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Luzerne on February 10, 2007. The first banquet committee meeting will be January 8, 2007, at 7pm Rodano’s. Dave briefly discussed our needs for the upcoming banquet. The underwrites will be managed by Pat Mitchell. A letter was reviewed to be sent to various corporations to invite them to participate in a special package involving memberships, a sponsorship, and a full-page program ad.
President: Dale encouraged attendance at the PA NWTF Awards Banquet at State College, to be held January 6, 2007. The Turkey Hunters Care program was a success, with 100 turkeys given away. Photos have been taken. Tony Landi received a thank you letter from Sacred Heart/St. John’s regarding the donations, and Christine also received a phone call of thanks. The American Chestnut Foundation received our membership renewal. Chastity discussed once again applying for the Wal-Mart grant, which we were successful in receiving last year. She also heard of a grant for youth programs from the Fish and Boat Commission, to be investigated further. Dale suggested that postcards be sent as reminders for the banquet.
